Victoria Station revamp shunts forward

If you’re a regular user of Victoria Station you’ll probably be anticipating the day it gets a modernisation to bring it on par with Piccadilly Station.

Although you may have thought government spending cuts could have put the project’s future in doubt, there’s some good news via Inside the M60 today. Network Rail has awarded a contract to Hyder Consulting to cover the first three stages of the redevelopment.

By 2014 the station, which serves trains from and to Yorkshire, Lancashire and Merseyside as well as the Metrolink network, should be a fitting transport hub for 21st century Manchester.
