Following on (very quickly) from research that shows commuting by bus is often less stressful than driving comes a new campaign to promote travelling by bus, which offers a prize draw to win 10 free single bus tickets* to 100,000 winners. It’s a scheme that Omnibuses blog describes as “an unprecedented promotion available by just about every operator with clout” – although we note you won’t be able to use them on the leather-seated X43 Witch Way to Burnley operated by large multinational Transdev. All you have to do is to say which car journey you’d give up if you won the tickets. Closing date is 9th October 2010.
* Subject to terms and conditions – which in the case of Greater Manchester appear to be thus: valid on Arriva, Finglands, First, Stagecoach and trent barton services, but not valid on Finglands’ night buses between 0000 and 0400hrs; also not valid on Megabus coach services; and perhaps most interestingly, not valid on First Manchester’s “Chester Park & Ride services” – highlighting the demise of the former PMT bus company which has been divided and conquered by FirstGroup’s Manchester (Chester & Wirral services) and Midlands (Crewe & Potteries services) operating units.
