New bus service for census data counters

Crowd of peopleThe 2011 Census is a matter of weeks away on 27th March 2011, and a large facility for dealing with the returned forms has been set up on Trafford Park. To cater for staff travelling to work, Stagecoach will be operating a special bus route starting Monday 21st February.

Numbered 251, the service will operate from Piccadilly along London Road and Grosvenor Street to the University, then via Brooks Bar, Chorlton and Stretford before heading to the UK Data Capture centre on Westinghouse Road in Trafford Park. The return service operates via Oxford Road and Portland Street to Piccadilly Gardens. As befits an “industrial” service, the 8 return trips appear to be timed to arrive and depart to cater for the early and late shifts, and will only operate on weekdays. The service can be used by anyone and accepts all normal tickets.

From the same date, Stagecoach will also add some early morning journeys to service 256 between Flixton and Manchester. New weekday departures from Flixton at 0504 and 0534 are introduced, with the 0614 journey retimed 10 minutes earlier.
