The Number 1 bus stop in Greater Manchester

The Number 1 bus stop in Greater Manchester

Surely this must be the Number 1 bus stop in Greater Manchester – for the free city centre bus outside Piccadilly Station and in full view of Transport for Greater Manchester’s offices. No wonder it’s amongst the first to be rebranded from GMPTE to TfGM.

Wonder what made TfGM replace the stop with a new one, as when you look back to a couple of months ago, TfGM said that they would only replace the old GMPTE logo with the new TfGM logo as and when they need replacing.

But, if you’re gonna choose a bus stop to start the change, then one for the Metroshuttle 1 is a good place to start.

What a surprise the first TfGM bus stop is in Manchester and what a surprise it was one that didn’t need replacing. Now I understand why a stop near me was replaced with an old GMPTE sign, necessary due to the streetlight the old one was on being demolished. That new stop looks awful, as I’ve said before the same style should be used on both sides, this new format just looks lazy

  3. James McCollom says:

In fairness to TfGM, this looks to be a special case at the moment, and the “budget” for it may well have come out of the Metroshuttle rebrand.

New bus shelter at Salford Quays has appeared (for the Station shuttle) featuring TfGM branding.

Specifically its halfway between the Lowry and Media City, where the apartment showroom is.

Whilst not exactly with regard to the bus stop plates, I have picked up a new timetable for service 7 (Ashton to Stockport) and that has the new TfGM logo and name at the bottom of the title page of this leaflet.

This is the first bus timetable that I have seen with this on.

    • Shaun says:

I think all new timetables from April 2011 will (or at least should) have the TfGM logo on it. The PDF timetable certainly does have the new logo on them.

      • Paul Sidorczuk says:

I note that TfGM printed 2000 timetables with the new logo on the foot for GO1 service between Sale and Altrincham….then the service was withdrawn in the last batch of services to appear on the TfGM service updates section.

Looks like the new bus stops are being brought out onto the whole Metroshuttle route, as there are quite a few Metroshuttle stops in the city centre now with the new logo on it.

As with the timetables, it looks like that all reprinted timetables are getting the new logo on it. Noticed a timetable for the 56/58/59 dated May 2010, which has Transport for Greater Manchester on it.
