Altrincham upgrade begins with footbridge demolition

Jubilee busThe redevelopment of Altrincham Interchange (due to be completed in 2014) is slated to begin next Sunday with the demolition of the disused concrete footbridge linking the Metrolink station with the Stamford Quarter shopping centre. As a result, Stamford New Road will be closed over the next two Sundays and bus services will be diverted to operate from other bus stops. Further details can be found on the TfGM website.

Ive been in Altrincham a couple of times and naturally used it only to find a locked lift. You would think they would have put up an ‘out of order’ or ‘closed’ sign.

Interesting that the alternative bus stops are posted online, as I didn’t notice them at the bus stands in the Interchange when I was there on Friday.

Just that the Interchange will be closed
